Registered Nurse - RN - Pediatric
Position: RN
Specialty: Pediatrics
This position is full-time 40 hours a week and 8 hour shifts. You will have the opportunity to work 3p-11p or 11p-7a. We are seeking RN's with pediatric or PICU experience to work on a high acuity skilled unit with trach/vent patients. The patient ratio is 1RN to 3 patients with trachs. Must have BLS and PALS certifications.
13 week contract with potential extension
Responsibilities include:
o Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
o Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition.
o Collects, analyzes and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses.
o Plans for expected outcomes of care for those patients assigned.
o Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard.
o Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment.
o Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of and assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities.
o Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
o Promotes interpersonal relations with patients/family/significant others; hospital healthcare co-workers; and physicians.
o Uses effective communication skills with all contacts while being objective and sensitive.
o Communicates pertinent information about patient, nursing unit, and activities as appropriate.
o Represents Maxim in the hospital setting in a positive image.
o After accepting a Maxim hospital assignment, arrives at the hospital on time, before the scheduled shift starts to sign-in at the nursing office and report to the floor/unit for orientation and/or report.
o Work assignments are completed during the assigned shift unless the hospital supervisor approves overtime.
o Dress/attire worn to the hospital is clean, professional, and appropriate for the clinical area assigned.
o Willingly floats to other areas of the hospital in which the nurse can provide safe patient care, at the hospital manager's request
Qualifications include:
o Current licensed Registered Nurse within the state of practice.
o Minimum of one year of maternal child health acute clinical experience within the last three years preferred.
o Current BLS card.
o Current PALS (if applicable)
o Current Health Certificate (if applicable)
o Current PPD or Chest X-ray.
o Successful completion screening for the clinical specialty area with a score of 80% or greater.
o Full command, verbal and written, of the English language.
